Ythan Update – May 2nd

Welcome to the new home of Ythan News! More than just an email, the blog posts can include images and, more importantly, allow for you to comment on the post and make this a conversation.

Pythons: Best of luck to the Ythanites riding and helping out (I know a few are doing both!) with the Wee Python and the Lumpy Python audax rides on Saturday. Hopefully the weather will be favourable!

Time Trials#1 – Confined Series: This years Confined series continues to be a roaring success with record numbers riding and some great times being posted on the new course. The complete list of Confined events for this year can be found here. And I’m still working out the best way to share the results on the site too…

Going fast…

Time Trials #2 – The Bob Soutar: If the Confined series has served to whet your appetite for Time Trialling, you should be entering the open Bob Soutar 10 mile TT on Wednesday June 5th. Organised by Carol, you can enter through BC here. The Bob Soutar will run on the same B9000 course as our confined series and will be familiar territory for Ythan riders! So lets see plenty of Ythan blue out there on the road!

Tour Series: Coming to Aberdeen on May 16th – the Tour Series is back!
There’s a new route and a new location for the Club Zone gazebos and a full program of support races. Check out details here. Ythan’s gazebo will be there again, acting as the hub for Ythanite’s on the day.  And we need you to help man / woman the gazebo.  You don’t need to be there all day, and the more people can help out, the better.  In addition to manning the gazebo, the support races still need volunteers for marshalling, signing-on, etc.   Please let us know if you can help!!   (use the chairman at ythancc.org.uk email address)

Grampian Grand Prix: Taking place at the Grampian Transport Museum track on May 11th, the GGP is a great opportunity for our QL to put their skills on show. It should also be a great chance to size up the competition for the youth races supporting the Tour Series races in Aberdeen. Enter here. The transport museum itself is worth a visit too – they have a fine collection of bikes!

  1. Informative as ever Donald. Would love to see the mythical confined points leaderboard shared a bit more often. I’m a bit of a statistic person and love seeing things like that!

    • @dangerousbrian – the confined results are coming! Turns out that presenting a table in WordPress is a bit of a challenge. But I have a solution and will probably build a static page for it rather than making it a blog post… Watch this space, as they say!

  2. Indeed, I dont think I could safely repeat my choice words with regards to tables and wordpress. A free plugin appears to exist (I haven’t tried it). For work purposes I, after some frustration created my own table using HTML…..
