ParticipantBeen trying for a few house to get a cable nipple out of a Campy Ergopower shifter, it is on the front derailleur the cable is frayed and so makes getting the remains out difficult, any ideas? Tried a few things, but not able to grab the top of the nipple, or even push it through.

ParticipantYou can see the nipple so that is a good thing. Try prising it out with a brawdal or small sharp instrument and then grab with long nosed plyers.
Is that not the same thing that happened to your right hand shifter a few months ago? Graham.-

ParticipantGraham,
Yes, that was the rear one. Tried prising it out, no go, it moves a little but not enough to grab it. Sprayed some more WD going to leave it overnight, have another go tomorrow, also see it can get hold of thinner pair of pliars.

ParticipantLooks like the part that hold the nipple is goosed, getting spare parts for a lever that was made in 2012 is proving extremely difficult, Campagnolo it seems has a 7 year life when the lever part is no longer made, and I have exceed that. Spoke to Campagnolo here in the UK.

ParticipantNew shifters fitted, gear change seems smoother, just waiting for bar tape to arrive. 3.2mm, been getting some numb fingers so trying thicker stuff.
