April 5th: YCC does cake

At the Club's recent AGM, it was decided that the role of Club Run Captain should be dusted off, reprised and revamped in an attempt to bring some structure to the Club Run on a Sunday. It'd be unreasonable to expect any one person to take responsibility for organising every club run for a year, so the idea this time round is that everyone can take on the role for a week or three, and revel in their (temporary) power to impose a route on the peloton! Seek out the longest and steepest climbs, venture onto another Club's turf, and seek out new cafes in search of the ultimate espresso and fruit scone. Get dusty MTBs out of the shed and take the club off-road; or start the run somewhere exotic and foreign (like Inverurie) and leave Ythan tyre marks on uncharted territory... Should be fun!

You'll doubtless have seen the email sent through British Cycling and have hopefully already replied with all the dates you'll be wanting to take charge of the club run. I have somehow landed the role of coordinating this, and will be taking all your feedback and building up a rota of Ride Leaders for the Club Runs. I'm genuinely looking forward to everyone's input on what a club run could or should be.

To kick us off this weekend, I propose that we follow this route:
If there aren't too many of us, we can also plan for a cafe stop at the Lodge in Strichen to refuel for the ride back to Ellon. http://www.thelodgestrichen.co.uk/
If you have one of those really fancy Garmin computers with mapping functions, it might be helpful to have the route loaded for tomorrow.
