Hi All,

If your Club is developing the next generation of young cyclists please read on.

You may have already been told that I have been taken on by British Cycling as the Talent Development Coach for Scotland. For those who didn't know, or who don't already know me, I shall introduce myself.

I am Mark Young, and I was more recently employed by Scottish Cycling as one of 6 Regional Development Officers. I covered the areas of Fife and Mid Scotland. I will still be working closely with my old colleagues in the new role.
I have a long history in the sport of cycling, which included racing in MTB XC, Time Trials, and Road Racing (although I'm guessing this is before many of the young riders were born!), and for the last 10 years as a Coach. I hope to bring my experiences to help develop the young talented bike riders coming through the brilliant grassroots work being done by all those fantastic volunteers.

So....on to the future and where I can help make things happen.......

The two key areas which I will be concentrating on are:-

1) Regional Schools of Racing
This is the medium by which I will deliver the majority of the coaching I will do

2) Racing itself
SkinnyTyresRaceSeries, Northern Track Series, UK Youth Racing.

Over the next few weeks, I will be contacting (if I haven't already) the clubs and coaches where the youth and junior talent is being nurtured, so that I can come along to your locale and explain in more detail how I will be working with you all over the coming years.

If there appears to be missing names from the email list, or you know of a club/coach/young talented rider who should know all about this email, send it on to them please.

In the meantime, if you need to contact me, the details are below. Its good to talk.

Kindest regards

Mark Young
