Track Racing 2011
Now for the 2011 national track calendar (time to start using our track skills being learnt at Caird Park, Bellahouston, Meadowbank & Manchester against those pesky English)... Don't forget all National Series events - track and circuit need to be entered well in advance – at least 1 month and maybe more to avoid the disappointment of not getting in because oversubscribed)... see www.britishcycling.org.uk and follow the calendar links.

The Scottish Youth cycling is concentrated into a series of races:

Our two races are counted as part of the series :D . The Ellon crit in 2011 will now ne a youth event only.


2011 SSTS Provisional Calendar (as of December 13, 2010):
1. *Sunday March 13 Circuit – Kelso
2. Thursday April 14 Circuit – Ingliston
3. Sunday May 8 Track – Dundee
4. Saturday May 14 Circuit – Ingliston
5. Saturday June 4 *Track – Dundee
6. Sunday June 5 *Track – Edinburgh
7. Fri August 5 – Sat 7 *Track – Edinburgh
8. *Thursday August 11 Circuit – Glasgow
9. Saturday August 20 *Circuit - Renfrewshire
10. Saturday August 27 Circuit – Alford
11. Sunday August 28 TT – Dundee
12. Sunday September 4 Circuit – Ellon
13. Sunday September 11 Track – Dundee
14. Saturday September 24 Circuit – Kelso
15. *Saturday October 15 HC – Linlithgow

*Red events are Bonus Rounds that carry 10 bonus points for starting


Standards for the 2011 Scottish Skinny Tires Series (SSTS):
1. Youth A & B to ride appropriate bikes (road or track)
2. Youth C to ride track bikes on track or any bike for road
3. Circuit Race events; Event 1 = Yth A/B Boys (min 40mins). Event 2 = Yth A/B Girls (min 30mins). Event 3 = Yth C’s (min 20mins)
4. If a limited number of events (or time of circuit opening) is available to organisers then priority given (in order of preference) to A’s, B’s & C’s subject to circuit race timings above
5. Circuit Race events; 1 Prime halfway through each event to carry 5 bonus points for 1st placed in each category
6. Strict gear checking adhered to
7. Standard Terminology/Signage required on race days – eg ‘Registration’ ‘Gear-check’ ‘Briefing area’
8. SSTS Overall based on; 2/3rds of races to count in final standings
9. 10 Bonus Points available for starting *Bonus Events. Starting event is a pre-requisite
10. Track Omnium qualifying points to be based on the final overall at each event
11. Qualifying points allocated according to number of starters per category in circuit races; eg if 30 starters then 30 to the winner down to 1 for last place in that category (inclusive of dnf’s)
12. Top 3 in each event score an extra 5, 3, 1 points
13. Leaders Tables for male/female in each category
14. Leaders Jersey’s for male/female in each category (Blue & Pink)
15. 2 different coloured body numbers for the 2 catergories in A + B joint races & M-F in C races
16. SSTS Leader jerseys to be awarded after each event to the overall leader in each category
17. Points tables to be updated and online as soon as possible after each event
18. Ideally - video camera recording finishing positions at all bunch events
19. Minumum of 1 Scottish Cycling representative at each event to help race organisers
