Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking

Following on from the six sessions during September/October and the feedback received - which thankfully was pretty positive, I have done some digging and found some courses being run at Glenmore Lodge over the course of next year - see

A few of the questionnaires that I got back indicated some of the kids would like to do mountain biking, the main downside of this is finding and risk assessing trails. Obviously, from a coaching perspective it is much harder to manage an off-road environment.

As such a good view moving forward may be, if people are willing, for some parents to get a disclosure sorted and possibly undertake a Mountain Bike Trail Leader award. This would allow us to continue coaching in 'safer' locations and develop basic skills whilst also giving the kids the opportunity to ride some local trails in a group - much the same as is currently happening with the some of the kids going on the Sunday club runs.

It may also be a good way to encourage other youths into the club if we can organise open runs on some trails during summer holidays etcetera to try and get more of the local kids into cycling and into the youth sessions.

Also, thanks to everyone that has helped out with setting up sessions and responding to the questionnaires. Your help was greatly appreciated
