Corrieri Classic 10 Mile TT Stirling

Postby Andy D » Sun Mar 21, 2010 3:40 pm

Full results to follow but here is your Ythan Results:

Andy Duncan 24.27
Fiona Duncan 24.58
Colin Allanach 25.40
John Hunter 26.44
Liam Monaghan 33.23

Some noteable rides - Arthur Doyle 20.14!!

Christine McLean 23.39 (she's been racing for a few weeks but that's still very good for this time of year and she beat Jessica Wilson-Young in the process - despite various ailments connected to her crashes and injuries from last year, very impressive)

First one out of the way (thankfully) very painful but they can ony get better from today.

By the way, those who suggested on another forum that Time Trialling was dead, are clearly wrong - 92 riders at this event!!!

Cheers Andy, first race of the season and first race out on the new bike.

Wish I had gone a wee bit better, but set my mind to be happy under 27 before hand.

I really struggled to keep a rhythm of the way out, dont know if was a slight wind gusting at any point.

Anyways, another good event apart from total lack of tea and cakes.....

Good efforts all round. Andy setting the bar with a decent time for March. Looks like the TTs will be like the RRs, with the top guys being pretty much untouchable.

someone of the braveheart forum suggesting some wind, I dont think Mr Doyle is affected by such things. Hes got to be looking good for the national 10!

He came past me as if I was pedalling backwards.

A wee bit off on the timing though, I crossed the line sat up, drifted a bit and stopped the garmin. It reads 25:37 so i'm not sure where they got the 40 secs from. I'm not complaining though, even if it sounds like I am.

3 seconds ??!!!! Dry yer eyes man!!

Some good rides but I was not al that happy with mine (is anyone ever totally satisfied with a race effort?!)

Legs felt quite heavy and I was coughing up slime for the whole race but when I downloaded the Garmin, it looked like I couldn't have really put much more into it.

Fiona's race was really just a 'real time' test as she rode with the Power Tap non-aero rear wheel to get a true power download. So not sure how much that slowed her down maybe 30 odd seconds?!?! (hope not!)

Liam Monaghan rode well with his 33.23 - he'll be hitting the sub 30 mins bracket shortly, wait and see.

His old man put in a good ride with 22.52, my claim to fame was to hold his jacket while he raced.

I see that Brendan McCabe from the Wheelers posted a 22.56 (unless I wrote it down wrong) if that is right that is a fine ride by him.

Looking forward to the Presentation TT now that the legs have had a blow through and swept out the cobwebs.

Eyes were dry  but you can't read, it was more like 10 seconds as I had sat up and coasted before I switched it off. Thinking about it I shouted out my number to a guy on the left hand side but was he the finish guy? Perhaps I sat up too early? Schoolboy error.

I was quite happy with that. Although I know what powers I can do on the turbo you never really know how that will translate to the race. That course is a good one to measure power on because it is fairly flat and it should be reasonably easy to get a good profile on, unlike some more lumpy courses where you tend to put bigger efforts going up the hills and ease off a bit to recover.

She could have used my powertap covers.

You're always buying and selling so I didn't know if you still had them, will maybe get a shottie some time later in the season. Fiona's profile looked well paced and even throughout. Average Power was well up on what she thought she could do if she had been doing the same effort on the turbo.
