A well organised event on a fast(ish) course and although the weather wasn't great that didn't dampen the enthusiasm.

I have been struggling in the last few weeks on the bike and although I felt a bit better, I still wasn't firing on all cylinders at the National 25, which was a shame as I was hopeful that this was going to be a big PB for me, having never managed to dip below the hour before, despite some near misses. Had to ease off in the middle as I felt like I might blow, after a strong start. Came home at a good rate but not enough to get the time I hoped for.

Big PB for Mike Giles, I believe and a pretty decent ride by Colin Allanach too. Carol didn't PB but was faster than she had been for the last few seasons.

Craig Ward picked up a Medal I think but I am sorry to say I couldn't wait around to the end to see that as I was an early starter and didn't want to be there as late as the prize giving.

Jay Burgess backed up her 10 Championship with the 25 in 58.09 which was a stunning ride for her and massive PB I Believe.

Iain Grant retained the men's title (nae THAT Ian Grant though - the Dooley's one!!)

The usual Weedgie obsessed stuff and guff (and the odd reference to folk that Ed Hood knows from back in the day) here: ... ship-2013/

Some good photos, but any good work undone by not bothering with the women's event in the write-up, either because they can't be ar$ed or that none of the women's grandad's used to ride with Glasgow Wheelers in the 60's or something.....

Yeah a 58 would have been a sensible target and one that I had in mind at some point at the start of the season but I am just not going well on the bike at all. Not sure what's up with me but have been dog-tired and weak on the bike in recent weeks particularly.

Am off to the Alps soon for some serious mountain bagging so will be better in the 2nd half of the season but going back to working 10 hour shifts till stupid o'clock by late July, so that might balance out to be no improvement!?!

You'll be hanging up your wheels this season after that ride Col. 8-)

I've been thinking about that for a while as I am struggling with motivation and I'm missing just going out for a ride. Perhaps it's time for a rest away from power readings, heart rate measurement, solo interval sessions etc and just get back to being sociable and go fir a Sunday morning ride.

I don't feel I am in the best shape and haven't done many races this year. I missed scheduled training efforts because i cba On Sunday I was fairly relaxed for a change and the weather worked for me for a change.
