Ythan Cycle Run – 28 May 2011

Postby Colin A » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:05 pm

Dear Reader

Organised by the Rotary Club of Oldmeldrum

The Rotary Club of Oldmeldrum would like to extend a warm invitation for you to join us on the Ythan Cycle Run 2011 event.

The event, which will have a 12.30 sign in, will start at 1.00pm at the Royal British Legion Hall, Fyvie, finishing back in Fyvie at approx. 5.00pm. As in previous years, we are offering the chance to take part in a challenge route (26 miles), alongside a shorter, less strenuous route (7.5 miles) for those who wish to follow it. Entry costs £6 for adults, £4 for ages 7-14 and is free for ages 6 and under.

The cycle run, which was in the past organised by Evelyn Cook, has in recent years been taken over by the Rotary Club of Oldmeldrum. While there is no need to have sponsorship to take part, if you do gain sponsorship, we would ask that any monies raised be split 50/50 with half going to the charity of your choice and the rest going to charities chosen by the Rotary Club. This year Rotary will support CHAS (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) movement and other chosen charities.

Refreshments will be available, and families will be made particularly welcome by our team of organisers at the event. Although registration will be possible on the day, it is recommended to register in advance by downloading and submitting the entry form from the Cycle Run Website at http://www.ythancyclerun.co.uk

For further information, please contact Sheena Clarke (sheenaw@btinternet.com). We do hope that you'll be able to join us, and perhaps bring along your family members and friends too as we set out to make this year's Ythan Cycle Run the best one yet!

Kind regards

Sheena Clarke

Just a reminder that this run is on on Saturday. Paul and Yvonne will be raising funds by having two bikes for some 2 min turbo racing.

25 mile charity run in a good atmospher so a doddle for all you guys.

In total was six Ythanites on the run (I think) with Karl taking Laurie and Adam round and myself riding with Colin and Robbie. Was a good day although a bit windy in stretches made some of it hard going, especially down into Methlick.

Supposedly, by default, Ythan took the top 3 as the first lot in got a bit lost and went the wrong way. For the purpose of their insurance however there is no result taken or timing in place either.

Hopefully can get some more of the youths out for the Inverurie bike ride in July as well
