Cairngorm Classic 2011

Off to a Sportive event? 'Racing' a charity event or just going somewhere nice with your bike?

looks like I wont make it, feelin pretty weary this week, so doesnt seem worth the drive and then all the hassle, plus would probably kill me

Off to Spain on Sunday for a week of rest so will hope to be back fighting fit soon.

Well done to Ythan's King of the Sportives, John Dougan on polishing off the Cairngorm 100 in 4.40.47, which was 6th fastest ride of the day, well done John.

I made a bit of an ar$e of my ride by targeting a sub 5 hour ride and 'dibbed' about the same time as John but faffed about doing up my jacket and generally not getting moving quick enough, so was chasing the fast group he got into from the start. Got a bit of knock at about 40 miles, recovered but by the time I chased and jumped from group to group on the way to the foot of the final climb I was out of food and liquid and had been for the last 15 miles.

It felt like the last revs of a 100 mile TT hitting that hill, which I don't really think is all that tough but at the end of this ride I was out on my feet - agony. Failed to do my sub 5 hours, did 5.08.24 and was 46th fastest on the day.

Great ride from Nick Thom who did 6.40.38 just behind the bulk of the rest of the Ythan Crew. A great ride and he even rode back down to his digs to round off a 107 mile ride for the day.

Not sure what happened to Adam Robson, he is showing as DQ'd?!?
