2013

Off to a Sportive event? 'Racing' a charity event or just going somewhere nice with your bike?

2013

Anyone making any plans for next year?

I'm not the most organised of people and don't do forward planning very much, but with cycling more popular than ever it might be necessary to get in fast.

The Kinross sportive is what has scared me. 700 places and they sold out in about 10 hours. http://www.sportive-kinross.co.uk/ I tried to sign up later that day and had already missed it.

Regardless of what you think of the pricing and whether the closed roads are worth it or not the Etape Caledonia is one of the biggest events around. It has been selling out faster and faster recently and if you have any inkling to do it it might be worth pre-registering.https://eventdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=main&EventDesqID=255&OrgID=1941 People who have preregistered get a couple of days to book before it is opened up to the public.

Finally and with anyone I've spoken to about it doubting my sanity I've got a hankering to try this. http://www.londonedinburghlondon.com/ 1400km or 900 miles in old money. Not a race, but you need to complete it in 5 days. So basically ride 180 miles in one day and then do it again, and again, and again and finally once more!

Hi guys

I'm now getting desperate in my search for people willing to try something stupid on a bike!
The snow roads Audax, 300km round the roads in the North-East with snowgates, is on the 25th of May next year and entries are already open.

http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-68/

Now entries are already filling up and its going to be on TV on Sunday the 18th of November, BBC 2 at 7pm, so any remaining places are likely to disappear very quickly.

I've just entered it. After all, what's the worst that can happen?

Cheers Graham

its a cracker of a route isn't it?

Much further than I have done before. It'll be more about making sure we finish than about time I think!

I missed out on this one this year - but I'm signed in for it next year. I may regret it.

I don't know - if Dougie Vipond can do it, surely we can!

Good turnout of ythanites.

That's the winter training sorted then, long rides and hills for me I think. That doesn't mean I'll be ready for hills on the 9th of December Colin!
