Broken bike question

Postby Scotty » Sat Aug 02, 2014 5:15 pm

My training bike chain has started sagging when I stop pedalling or back pedal. It goes forward fine but as soon as you stop pedalling its a nightmare trying to get it to engage again. Any ideas or suggestions.

Most likely the freehub body on your rear wheel is becoming sticky. What wheels are you using? Some can be removed quite easily and cleaned up to full working order. Others require the application of large tools and a copious quantity of inappropriate language before being placed into long-term storage in the bin.

Colin,

The wheels are just cheap Rodi Airline 4 Clinchers which I got on the bike (AL Ribble winter/training bike). Do you think I should just buy a new set of wheels?

Worth trying to resurect them as a spare set of winter/turbo wheels if it doesn't take too much effort.
If truth be told a bit of money spent on new wheels will make a massive difference to the bike though so good excuse to justify it ;)
