Ardlethan Bridge

Postby JimBo » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:54 pm

It's the bridge on the 10 mile TT, has been closed, looks like something large hit the side of it and has resulted on a large chunk of it lying in the garden of the house next to it. There are a few large boulders, a bin full of gravel and barriers on either side of it to stop people going through.

Must have been something pretty big, dumper truck?, that has hit it, may need to keep an eye on it for the confined's.

To be closed for 3 months apparently!

Do you think they could please make it wider whilst at it?

On the last 2 confineds I've done I've had to stop for traffic coming the other way.

Fortunately the next one is a 25, so on a different course. Unfortunately I will miss it, as I have a work 'thing' on, that I cannot avoid.

Does this mean we use the other TT course, out to Meflik and back.

The bridge has re-opened as of today, then I saw a low loader heading towards it, and thought oh god. :D

The only time I have ridden a confined was over this bridge, two days later they had to close it as it was unsafe. Now I'm not saying I was going so fast that the bridge shook and worked the stones loose, but.........
Anyway, I rode over it today but there was a bit of a headwind so I took it easy just in case!
